Alright, so this week, we’re not just going to cover your everyday tech deal. This is something brand-new that has the potential to change the way you watch TV, search the web, record shows, and much more…

Google TV

Google, masters of the internet, have decided to take their android operating system a step beyond cellphones and tablets, onto the most used device in your household. Google TV combines television, internet, DVR and even apps into one device!

Now, if you read my review of internet TV, here, then you already know about the benefits of hooking your computer up to the ol’ flat screen. Google TV takes it a step further by combining everything into one super-device. It allows you to not only search the internet, but your cable or satellite channels as well. It provides a home screen for your television that has all of your favorite channels and websites in one place. I’m not even playing when I say that this is the most bad ass invention to date, and quite possibly the future of television. Check out the video to see what I mean…

How to get it

As with the Android Operating System, all of Google TV is open-source. What does that mean?

It’s FREE!!!!

Seriously. The only thing needed is the Google TV box. You can pick up the standard box for about $99.99, or you can choose to go with the HD version that comes with an integrated blue ray player for about $225… AND THAT’S IT! Yeah, no recurring fees. No monthly bills. You buy the hardware once, and the service is free for life. If that’s not a tech deal, then I don’t know what is!

Monetizing Blogs and Social Networking Sites

Blogs and social networking sites, unlike business sites and online storefronts, make their money primarily from advertising, affiliate programs, and product reviews. However, in the same way as business sites and online storefronts, the first step is attracting people to your site.

Attracting Readers to Your Blog

There are literally thousands of articles out there that attempt to tackle the art of attracting page views. Eventually, I will get around to writing a detailed guide on this subject, outlining specific tools and pluggins. But for now, the basic strategy should be as follows: Read the rest of this entry »

That’s right, you asked for it and we did it. We now have a Forums Page for all of your Questions, answers, discussions, suggestions, and any other crap that you can possibly think of!!!

Granted, it’s new, and it’ll probably take a little bit to work out all of the kinks… but it’s up there, and that’s all that really matters… right?

*Edit – We have also opened up a new FORUM category which will be used for any news, updates, or announcements regarding the forums.

*Please note that the Forums do require you to register, however, we DO NOT share any of your information. This is solely for the purpose of insuring that all of our users are human.

Steve 'Jobless' Jobs

That’s right y’all. Steve Jobs ain’t got no job. He handed in his resignation earlier today. Taking his place will be the former Chief Operations Officer, Tim Cook.  Jobs(less) published the following letter regarding his resignation: Read the rest of this entry »

Facebook Logo

I’ve had a couple of people ask me about this, and I’ve even seen some posts about it. The problem is that, by default, Facebook only shows updates from your friends who you’ve recently interacted with. “Interacted” meaning that you’ve liked their status, commented on a status update, tagged or been tagged in a photo of theirs, etc. Annoying as hell, right? The crappy part about it is that Facebook does it so sneakily that you probably didn’t even notice it until someone said something.

Business Websites and Online Storefronts:

In this section, we begin discussing how to make money from your website. The first step toward making money off of any type of online venture is getting potential customers to your site. Since business sites are inherently less keyword saturated that blogs, it is a lot harder (and more expensive) for them to attract traffic, simply by appearing at the top of a search engine results page.  One of the keys here is to use other, freely available, media sources to do the marketing for you. Here’s a brief list of ideas to help you get started, but keep in mind that this is not at all comprehensive. Being creative with the tools at your disposal is the key to bringing in paying customers… Read the rest of this entry »

People are always looking to find good deals on tech stuff… mostly because this sh*t is usually expensive as hell. So we’re going to be starting a new thing called ‘Tech deals of the week’, where we’ll outline some of the more badass deals out there on the ol’ interwebz. After writing the first article on this subject, it became apparent that people weren’t just wanting to know how to learn HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP and MySQL… they were wanting a full blown guide, from start to finish, on the web design process. As usual, you ask, and we type!

So, now that you’ve picked up a little coding, or at least thought up a couple of decent website ideas, what do you do with them?

The next step is, of course, Read the rest of this entry »

Yes, it’s not just you. Facebook is f**king with things again . To the best of my knowledge, they are implementing some new blogroll-esque/twitter-wannabe thing (on the right, near the top) that’s causing crazy lag for just about everyone.

If any other news pops up (like someone hacking the sh*t out of it) We’ll let you know.

Update:

Ok, a few things. Facebook has acknowledged that they are having issues, but only minimally. They have apparently stated that:

We’re currently experiencing an issue where some users may experience some slowness or timeouts while using the site. This issue should be resolved shortly.

Some are speculating that the hacker group Anonymous is responsible for the outage. However, according to what is assumed to be Anonymous’ twitter feed (@GroupAnon), attacking Facebook is “Not their style.”

This is actually a fairly common problem with not a lot of useful information about it on the web. The reason this information is so hard to find is because there’s a lot of different things that can cause it.

Reason 1 – Bad or Badly Connected Hardware
You can tell if this is the cause because your computer will beep at you… rather rudely, and you won’t make it to the Windows boot screen. Your computer will simply restart or turn off within a few seconds of turning on.
